Dive into the world of online roof estimates with Demand IQ’s Austin Rosenbaum and Eagleview’s Peter Cleveland.

In a recent Read Listen Watch® (RLW), Megan Ellsworth sat down with Austin Rosenbaum and Peter Cleveland. Austin is the founder and CEO of Demand IQ, a company that, in his own words, supports “hundreds of home service and home improvement businesses with tools for instant online quotes.” Peter is Eagleview’s VP of partner strategy. In this role, he works with other companies that are using Eagleview’s arial data and measurement tools, like Demand IQ. Using both of their expertise, this duo dove into a discussion around one of Google's newest additions to their search tool – an online estimate filter.

This filter is an optional button that appears in the Google browser when users search for roofers in their area. For homeowners, this button adds to the roofing process the immediate, online shopping experience that we’ve grown to expect in the age of technology. As Austin put it, “Google understands homeowners want immediate answers, so this is a shortcut for customer experience to keep their platform relevant and users happy.”

For contractors, this new button can offer both challenges and opportunity. Peter elaborated, “To me, this is all about lead gen. Companies that can offer online estimates are going to get more informed leads and homeowners that feel more confident about the process because of the price visibility.” Alternatively, contractors that don’t offer online estimates will struggle. Austin explained, “We’re seeing estimates that between 1 in 4 homeowners are clicking on this online estimate button. So, if you are not participating in this new feature from Google, you’re looking at a possible 20% drop from your usual visibility.”

At the end of the day, Google’s addition of this filter has made it crucial for contractors to have an online estimator. So, how do you add an estimator to your website? That’s Demand IQ’s specialty! As we mentioned earlier, their entire focus is connecting contractors and other professionals with instant online quote tools. Austin gave a short explanation of how their estimating tool works:

Our tool is an estimator that goes into your existing website. Then, when a homeowner lands on the estimator page, they will be prompted to input their address. It will then pull up the roof, ask for confirmation that it is the right roof and start pulling up information. From there, the homeowner will be given a survey that has the homeowner share why they are looking at roofing options...Once that’s done, the program will scan the roof, pull together information (like cost per square for selected materials) and create an estimate report.

Where is it getting the data needed to do all this? That’s where the partnership between Demand IQ and Eagleview comes in. Peter explained, “Our AI model has been trained off of the millions and millions of roof measurements that we’ve done in the last few decades. It also has access to and uses the high-resolution imagery we’ve been known for. The result is a very accurate program. When I talk to contractors that use the AI program, they tell me it’s within half a square of accuracy.”

            class=''
            style=' '  loading='lazy' />

By Emma Peterson.

How aerial roof measurements can unlock powerful project planning for your team.

In the roofing industry, accuracy is everything. One wrong step can be a dangerous injury on the roof and one wrong measurement can mean thousands in lost revenue. Luckily, Eagleview provides a way for contractors like you to get accurate measurements and keep your crew safe on the ground until you know the state of the roof you are working on.

Eagleview’s aerial roof measurement tool

Eagleview’s measurement tool captures roofing data based on the more than 3.5 billion images in their library. How exactly does this work? A combination of high-resolution aerial imagery, advanced photogrammetry and AI modeling.

The result? Contractors can get 98%+ verified roof measurement accuracy without having to leave the ground! This has a variety of benefits, including:

Financial savings: It’s estimated that Eagleview users have cumulatively saved $6.89 billion thanks to the measurement accuracy of Eagleview’s tech.

Increased efficiency: Manitoba Assessment found that their team were able to “identify property changes and unpermitted improvements directly from their desks,” saving them substantial time by eliminating factors like travel.

Safer workplaces: Getting on unfamiliar roofs to inspect or measure them is one of the most hazardous tasks for construction workers and insurance adjusters. Eagleview’s roof measurement tool removes the need for your team to go onto the roof, protecting them from potentially dangerous structures and physical risks.

Integrating Eagleview in your operations

So, how do you start taking advantage of Eagleview’s roof measurement tool? The best way is to integrate roof measurements your existing workflows. Not only does this make it easier for your team to learn how to use a new tool, but it keeps your operations streamlined and smooth. As the Eagleview team explains:

[Integration] transforms how teams communicate. Estimators can see the same verified data as field crews and claims managers, reducing back-and-forth emails and misaligned updates. Project leads gain real-time visibility into active jobs, and decision-makers can compare productivity across offices or contractors without chasing down reports. Integrated aerial data also supports quality control and documentation. Every measurement is traceable back to verified imagery, making it easier to validate estimates, audit claims or maintain compliance records.

A great way to make this integration reality is using connected platforms like Eagleview One™. This platform acts as a hub for all your projects, funneling your measurements data into 3D visualizations and reports that offer unrivaled insight into the roof you are working on.

            class=''
            style=' '  loading='lazy' />

By Jenny Yu.

Sherwin-Williams' Roofing Passport brings speed, accuracy and confidence to custom metal roofing bids.

As metal roofing continues to gain ground in the residential market, Sherwin-Williams is equipping contractors with tools to compete more effectively. In this RLW®, Karen Edwards spoke with Junny Lee and Heather McGinnis of Sherwin-Williams about how the company’s Roofing Passport program is helping contractors streamline metal estimates and grow their businesses.

Junny pointed to durability and longevity as key drivers behind metal’s rise. “We know that a metal roof is two, three, maybe four times longer than the lifespan of an asphalt roof,” Junny stated. Still, contractors face barriers when adding metal to their offerings. “We’ve narrowed it down to three things: lack of training, the cost perception or the uphill battle of upselling.” Through its MetalVue program, Sherwin-Williams addresses those concerns with training, sales support and data-backed performance metrics.

Furthermore, their Roofing Passport program tackles one of the biggest hurdles: estimating custom metal jobs quickly and accurately.

“As far as going into the home and bidding, the thing that we heard over and over again was the fact that it was hard, because it’s a custom product, to deliver on a bid for metal,” Heather said. “So, what we did as a company that just wants to get another piece of metal on a roof was to say: we need to simplify this estimating process. We need to make it easy. We need to be able to compete alongside with asphalt.”

From there, Sherwin-Williams created Roofing Passport, a cloud-based software that ingests Eagleview reports, blueprints or XML files and generates a detailed takeoff report, including panel layouts, trim, accessories and fasteners. “It provides fewer errors and delays, it’s accurate and it’s an automated turnaround,” Heather shared, adding that estimates are typically within $200 of final costs.

Notably, Sherwin-Williams does not charge contractors to use the platform beyond third-party report fees. “This is just something we wanted to do for the contractors to help get more metal up there,” Heather expressed.

Read the first article in this series, Listen to the conversation or Watch the presentation to learn more about Roofing Passport and see the software in action.

            class=''
            style=' '  loading='lazy' />

By Jesse Sanchez.

Learn how targeted roof and homeowner data can help contractors connect with potential maintenance customers more efficiently.

For contractors working in the roof rejuvenation space, the challenge is not explaining the service; it’s finding the right homeowner at the right moment. Rejuvenation is designed for asphalt shingle roofs that are midlife: not brand new but not showing clear signs of failure either. Traditionally, reaching that customer has meant door knocking, direct mail or broad digital advertising that can be difficult to control and even harder to target. That is where data is beginning to shift the market. On this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Fred Castonguay and Shyam Prabhakar, co-founders of Reworked.ai, described how their platform helps contractors narrow outreach to homeowners whose roofs and circumstances align with rejuvenation rather than replacement.

“We’re finding bad roofs... and we’re doing that in collaboration with Eagleview,” Fred said. He explained that the platform relies on Eagleview aerial imagery, along with historical images, to evaluate roof conditions. Those roofs are categorized as red, yellow or green. For rejuvenation professionals, the yellow roofs are the priority as they are roofs that “are not showing any obvious signs of failure, but are not new.”

The approach goes beyond identifying roof conditions. Fred said Reworked.ai also considers publicly available demographic information to better understand homeowner capacity and likelihood to invest in upkeep. Shyam added that the company analyzed historical customer data and updated its algorithms to better identify the roof regeneration customer, describing the target homeowner as someone “with a potentially more risk averse mindset who values smart maintenance over a massive replacement bill.”

With that targeting in place, the platform is built to give contractors more control over how they generate leads. Rather than competing against national advertising budgets in pay-per-click markets, contractors can purchase lists of midlife asphalt shingle roof homeowners by geography, then choose the outreach method that fits their operation, whether that is direct mail, email, phone calls or door-to-door contact.

For roof rejuvenation dealers trying to grow beyond referrals, the promise is fewer wasted touches, more relevant conversations and a clearer path to homeowners who are more likely to engage.

Explore Google’s new online estimate button with Austin Rosenbaum and Peter Cleveland.

The Coffee Shops™ will be hosting a new Read Listen Watch® (RLW) on March 19, 2026, at 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. ET). Titled “Capitalizing on Google’s Shift to Online Estimates,” this webinar highlights and explores a major shift in how homeowners are finding and interacting with contractors – Google's new online estimates filter!

Your guides to this new feature

As mentioned above, the webinar guests will be Austin Rosenbaum and Peter Cleveland.

Austin is the founder and CEO of Demand IQ, a “Denver-based SaaS platform transforming how contractors sell home services online.” By enabling contractors to offer instant estimates, Demand IQ helps contractors generate high-quality leads from their website visitors. How are instant estimates possible? Austin and the team at Demand IQ built a patented technology that blends AI with human touch. The result is automated measurements, pricing and contracts that give homeowners the modern buying experience they want without sacrificing specificity and personal connection.

As for Peter, he is the vice president of partner strategy at Eagleview. Prior to his current role, Peter spent over 15 years working at the forefront of roofing, solar and related construction technology, helping transform business models using data. In his current role, he works to connect companies like Demand IQ with Eagleview’s AI-derived property data and geospatial analytics to fuel the future of roofing.

What they’ll cover

The focus of their conversation will be Google’s new online estimates filter. This filter shows up when homeowners search for “roofing companies near me,” and it has been found that one out of five buyers are using it. For homeowners, this filter offers them the speed and convenience of a modern buying process.

What does this mean for contractors? If your website does not offer an online estimate experience, these high-intent homeowners will not see you.

Find out how roof-condition imagery and data collection can refine outreach efforts.

Roofing contractors have no shortage of marketing tools. They can invest in digital ads, purchase mailing lists and saturate neighborhoods with postcards. With more channels available than ever, contractors now have greater opportunity to connect with the right homeowners at the right time and deliver more targeted, effective outreach. On this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Karen Edwards spoke with Reworked.ai co-founders Shyam Prabhakar and Fred Castonguay about a strategy designed to address that inefficiency at its source. Instead of trying to capture homeowners who are already searching online, the company’s model focuses on identifying properties where the roof is likely nearing failure, then helping contractors prioritize those households.

“We’re not identifying intent, we’re identifying need,” Fred said. That distinction shapes the entire approach. Most homeowners do not actively shop for a new roof until a leak, storm damage or inspection forces the issue. As a result, traditional marketing that targets visible buying intent may overlook a much larger group of aging roofs. According to Fred, that gap represents a significant opportunity: homes with roofs “at or near failure” where the owner may not yet recognize the risk.

To reduce bias and guesswork, the two said they grounded their system in large-scale data rather than contractor assumptions. Shyam described the challenge of building that foundation, saying one of the hardest parts early on was “cracking the how,” specifically “getting to know all those attributes and data points about an individual” and comparing that information against verified roof replacement records. Fred explained that the team analyzed “20 million records of homeowners,” including five million who had replaced a roof and 15 million neighbors, to establish patterns tied to documented outcomes. By training the model on real replacement activity, the system is designed to rely on measurable data instead of assumptions about ideal customers.

Imagery is the second pillar. Fred said the company uses computer vision to evaluate roof conditions and partnered with Eagleview for higher-quality aerial images. “Eagleview has the best images in the industry,” he said. The system flags visible deterioration such as missing tabs, discoloration and other indicators roofers associate with end-of-life conditions.

Shyam said contractors receive results through what he described as a “completely self-serve” platform, where users can log in, select their target area and generate prioritized lists that are delivered in spreadsheet form. He explained that the structure is intentional, allowing contractors to plug the data directly into the outreach systems they already use rather than forcing them to adopt a new marketing process.
