At IRE 2026, MetalForming introduced new equipment designed to help contractors streamline operations and expand capabilities.

At the 2026 International Roofing Expo, contractors came searching for tools and technology that can help them work smarter, faster and more profitably. MetalForming was ready to provide, showcasing their latest equipment designed to improve fabrication capabilities and streamline shop operations.

During a live interview at the RoofersCoffeeShop® sound stage, Stephen Gosk, president of MetalForming, shared how the company is focusing on innovative machinery and supplier partnerships that help contractors stay competitive in a changing market.

“MetalForming represents a variety of best-in-class suppliers doing metal folding, coil processing and roll forming, with innovative solutions that our customers are looking for,” Steve explained.

At this year’s show, MetalForming centered its booth around equipment that delivers efficiency and flexibility for fabricators and contractors. According to Steve, the company carefully selects machines that can directly impact customers’ operations.

“We continue to try to find the secret sauce for these shows by looking for what people want to see: the latest innovation that's going to help their businesses be more successful, more efficient and more cost-effective,” he said. “This year, we’ve focused on new innovations from our suppliers that we feel will do that for our customers.”

Among the featured equipment are Schröder architectural machines, including the PowerBend Architectural (PBA) folding machine and the PowerBend Multi (PBM); these machines offer advanced safety features, precision folding capabilities and programmable functionality that allow contractors to produce complex metal components more efficiently. Steve also highlighted the addition of the New Tech and VIETSTEL roll forming machines to MetalForming’s expanded offerings.

Beyond equipment innovations, Steve also shared optimism about the industry’s outlook in the next year. “The uncertainty of 2025 seems to be waning a little bit. I really see the fog lifting,” Steve said, adding that MetalForming’s focus is to keep growing. “By bringing in this new equipment and continuing to enhance our role as a supplier, we're looking to grow our presence regardless of market conditions.”

MetalForming is expanding its equipment portfolio with new roll forming and architectural fabrication solutions designed to meet growing demand.

As metal construction continues to grow across the industry, manufacturers and contractors are looking for equipment that can meet their expanding operational visions. MetalForming is responding to that demand by adding new roll forming and architectural fabrication solutions to its product portfolio.

In this Read Listen Watch® (RLW), Karen Edwards spoke with MetalForming’s President and CEO Stephen Gosk and Business Development Director Chad Rowe about two of the company’s newest offerings: the VIETSTEEL roll former line and the Schröder architectural shear and folding systems.

“At MetalForming, we really do three things: we fold, we do coil processing and we roll form,” Stephen explained. “So, when we go out into the market and look for additional lines, we look for lines naturally that have synergy with what we do.”

According to Chad, the addition of VIETSTEEL equipment reflects both growing market demand and MetalForming’s goal of offering complete production solutions. “The roll forming industry as a whole across North America has a huge growth potential and is slated to continue to grow for the next 15 years,” Chad stated. “MetalForming has always been a company that's looking for total solutions, and this has been a piece that's been missing from our portfolio.”

The VIETSTEEL line offers equipment options for both emerging and established contractors. Entry-level systems can help new businesses launch fabrication capabilities, while more advanced machines provide automated, high-speed production.

MetalForming has worked with the Schröder brand for about 10 years, and it remains the flagship brand in the precision industrial fabrication space. The new PowerBend Architectural (PBA) system brings advanced capabilities to contractors who need greater flexibility and efficiency.

“The biggest way that this is going to separate from other machines in the market is the fact that it offers a higher degree of safety with more throughput. Usually those two oppose each other,” Stephen stated. “It has some unique benefits for those who need to go above and beyond.”

Together, these new offerings show MetalForming’s commitment to providing high-quality products that help customers expand to perform a wider range of metal construction projects.

Enjoy free installation and purchase discounts with MetalForming’s latest equipment bundle offering.

MetalForming continues to help roofing fabricators modernize their shops with a new bundled equipment offering designed to boost productivity and expand in-house capabilities. By pairing the New Tech SSQ3™ MultiPro Roof Panel Machine with the Schechtl MAX-F folder, MetalForming is making it easier for contractors to invest in advanced fabrication technology from two trusted brands through one streamlined source.

New Tech SSQ3 MultiPro Roof Panel Machine

The New Tech SSQ3 MultiPro represents the next evolution of New Tech’s flagship rollforming technology. Building on the legacy of the SSQII, the SSQ3 delivers increased speed, safety and versatility to meet the demands of today’s roofing projects. The machine can run up to 16 profiles, each sold separately, allowing fabricators to take on a wide range of panel styles without adding multiple machines. A high-speed hydraulic drive helps increase daily output, while operators can choose between a touchscreen controller or the UNIQ Auto Control System for greater precision and ease of use.

Safety and flexibility are also key features of the SSQ3. Integrated warning strobes, RFID sensors and LED indicators enhance jobsite awareness, while the Quick-Change™ system allows operators to switch from gas to electric power in seconds. Designed for both trailer-mounted and in-plant configurations, the SSQ3 supports efficient production whether on-site or in the shop.

Schechtl MAX-F Folder

Complementing the rollformer is the Schechtl MAX-F folder, a short folding machine engineered for complex bending applications. Drawing on more than a century of manufacturing expertise, Schechtl designed the MAX-F with innovative F-Geometry that creates additional free space for deeper profiles and intricate folds. The machine bends sheet metal up to 10 feet long and 16-gauge thick, offering versatility for trim and custom fabrication work.

Productivity is further enhanced through features such as a motorized backgauge, maintenance-free bearings and a CNC touch control with frequency inverter. A welded steel beam design provides strength and stability, while a movable foot switch supports flexible operation.

For a limited time, MetalForming is offering purchase discounts and free installation when customers bundle the SSQ3 and MAX-F. MetalForming will also be showcasing its solutions at the upcoming International Roofing Expo 2026, giving attendees a hands-on opportunity to explore.

In a new Read Listen Watch® (RLW), Karen Edwards sat down with Stephen Gosk, president and CEO of MetalForming, and Chad Rowe, business development director for MetalForming, to talk about metal roofing and the state of the construction industry. The pair highlighted the challenges many contractors and industry professionals are facing, and how they can make the most of the current market situation.

Market uncertainty

As a respected metal bending, cutting, roll forming and coil processing machinery distributor, MetalForming is at the forefront of helping their customer base of contractors and metal professionals address market changes. This gives Stephen and Chad a unique perspective on the state of the industry and has placed the need of helping ease customer struggles at the center of their focus. Stephen shared a bit about what he’s been hearing, saying, “I get to talk to a lot of customers in all different markets. In general, the word we’re hearing is uncertainty.”

This uncertainty comes from a variety of sources, including but not limited to tariffs, labor shortages and exchange rate costs. Stephen shared, “The challenges aren't, in many of these cases, unique to the metals market by any stretch. Take labor for example. In general, it's getting harder to find skilled labor, whether that's on the roof or in the office.”

Opportunity in metal

But even with all of these challenges and uncertainty, the metal market is still looking very promising, if one knows where to look. Chad shared, “One of the things that surprises people is that we've had a handful of customers who started up a new business venture in the middle of all of this uncertainty. So that really goes shows the state of demand for metal.” This rise in interest in metal comes from both market recognition of its functional benefits and the development of new metal profiles, appealing features that are swaying many away from traditional materials.

Chad elaborated, “There’s far more finishes and profiles available now than there were even just five years ago. If you want a wood grain, you can have wood grain. If you want camouflage and you want board and batten for your duck blind, you can get that. All in metal!” As for the functionality of metal, Stephen explained, “It's not only just the design, but also the materials that are available. We're starting to see metal roofing that is getting recognized for how it can sustain hurricanes or fires. You're starting to hear about insurance companies starting to get into the mix.”

And the numbers back up what Stephen and Chad are talking about. Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) President, Renee Ramey, recently wrote, “The MRA’s latest research indicates that [residential] metal roofing is anticipated to reach over 4.8 billion square feet in 2028, based on historical and forecast shipment square footage numbers. It also points to a 19% increase in growth for residential metal roofing from 2024 to 2028.”

Explore how strategic automation can address labor shortages and efficiency issues.

In an industry under mounting pressure from labor shortages and production demands, contractors and fabricators are increasingly turning to automation and advanced folding technologies to stay competitive, said David Prokop, executive vice president of precision sales at MetalForming, LLC, during a recent episode of Coffee Conversations® with host Karen Edwards.

“In my 40-plus year career, I’ve never seen a time when so many things are impacting the industry all at once,” David said. “It’s forcing people to go elsewhere, and more often than not, they’re landing on folding.”

While the shortage of skilled labor remains the single biggest challenge across the sector, this interest in folding can be a new gateway to success. He added, “The only cure for it is to introduce different levels of technology that can offset that loss of labor.”

Many larger companies have already begun transitioning to motorized folding and shearing systems, David noted. “Where the production requirements are really getting ahead of their ability to backfill with labor, they start looking very heavily into automation,” he said.

But implementing new technology isn’t as simple as buying a machine and getting to work. “There’s more to it than just bolting it to the concrete and throwing an operator in front of it,” David said. “We make darn sure our customers don’t go down a rabbit hole and buy the wrong piece of equipment, or don’t get it installed or trained properly.”

With this scale of equipment, safety is critical, especially when companies bring in newer and less experienced workers. “You have to protect them from the operation,” he said. “That integration between safety, operation, training and installation is a huge key to having a successful fabricating facility.”

Accuracy in bending also plays a vital role in overall efficiency, David said. “Bending is really the only process that sets the stage for everything that happens thereafter. It determines how efficient the rest of your process is,” he explained. “The more accurate that part is, the faster it will install and the more efficient downstream operations become.”

While full automation isn’t necessary for everyone, David advises companies to adopt systems that allow room for growth. “Not everyone can afford a fully automated system,” he said. “Starting with a solution that gives you a path to add automation as it makes sense is absolutely critical. You never want to get into a dead end.”
