Educación, nuevos productos y liderazgo latino marcaron la edición de este año. 

Él International Roofing Expo (IRE) nos sigue sorprendiendo año tras año y esta vez no fue la excepción. IRE 2026 reunió a contratistas, distribuidores, fabricantes y organizaciones del sector en uno de los eventos más importantes del año para la industria del roofing. 

Durante la exposición, se destacó la creciente participación de la comunidad hispana y de los esfuerzos por ampliar el acceso a educación y recursos en español. SRS Para Latinos ofreció un espacio dedicado a latinos dentro de la industria del roofing, donde se realizaron presentaciones a cargo de socios como Owens Corning, CertainTeed and GAF y proveedores como Atlas Roofing y Polyglass. Las sesiones incluyeron información sobre productos, oportunidades de negocio y programas de la educación continua, como Polyschool. 

El espacio también contó con un panel presentado por Julissa Chavez de SRS para Latinos donde platico con, Mike Monterroso, Moises Morales y Priscilla Holguin propietarios de negocios en la industria del roofing y creadores de contenido. Los panelistas destacaron la importancia de la educación continua tanto para los dueños de negocio como para los equipos de trabajo, señalando la capacitación como factor clave para el crecimiento y la profesionalización del sector. 

Aunque en los últimos años más compañías han comenzado a ofrecer capacitación en español, asistentes al evento señalaron que aún existe una necesidad de ampliar la disponibilidad de información y recursos educativos en el idioma. El acceso a capacitación técnica y empresarial en español continúa siendo un elemento relevante para el desarrollo de contratistas y trabajadores del roofing. 

IRE también sirvió como plataforma para que las compañías de manufactura presentaran nuevos productos y para que distribuidores y contratistas conocieran de primera mano las innovaciones del mercado. Además, diversas organizaciones estuvieron presentes para compartir programas de apoyo y desarrollo dirigidos a distintois sectores de la industria del roofing. 

Entre ellas se encontró National Women in Roofing (NWIR) - Conexión Hispana, una asociación enfocada en apoyar el crecimiento profesional de las mujeres en la industria del roofing.  El programa busca crear espacios de educación, mentoría y conexión para mujeres de habla hispana, con el objetivo de fortalecer su participación y desarrollo en la industria.  

 La presencia de NWIR en IRE 2026 reflejó el papel que juegan este tipo de programas en la construcción de una industria más inclusiva, al brindar recursos y oportunidades que apoyan el avance profesional de mujeres y comunidades diversas dentro del roofing.

Allie Spangler, district sales manager for Southwest Florida, emphasized that Polyschool has become a natural extension of the sales process. “In many cases, there’s only one of us out on the road. So having the ability to bring customers here, give them access to the full product lineup, let them touch and install the products – it's invaluable,” she shared. 

“We’re constantly rolling out new products. If you don’t know how to install them correctly, they won’t perform the way they should. Training is critical, not optional,” Kelsey Archer, Polyglass sales representative echoed.

The event, held at Polyschool, a training center located at the Polyglass Winter Haven, Florida plant, connected 76 high school seniors — most of whom are immigrants enrolled in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program — with successful professionals who have overcome similar challenges.

Polyglass executives Alex Formoso (from Cuba), executive VP of procurement and supply chain; Betiana Acha (from Argentina), executive VP of R&D and process innovation; and Gaby Añez (from Venezuela), creative marketing manager were honored to speak at the event. Through personal stories and interactive discussions, they encouraged students to continue their education and pursue their dreams despite obstacles.

Fueling dreams: Empowering students through personal stories

Latinos in Action, a nationally recognized organization dedicated to "empowering Latino youth to lead and strengthen their communities through college and career readiness, provided an invaluable opportunity for students to connect with role models who understand their struggles and aspirations firsthand.

One impactful moment of the event occurred when three female students, who had recently immigrated from Venezuela — Gaby Añez’s home country — approached her after her speech. They expressed how deeply her story resonated with them, leading to an emotional and motivating exchange about perseverance, education and ambition. 

Reflecting on this connection and the overall experience, Gaby later recounted, “Sharing my journey from Venezuela to the U.S., and the challenges I overcame to achieve my education, was a reminder of the strength and potential within each of us. To all the young minds out there: embrace your unique path, stay determined and never let obstacles deter you from your aspirations. Your story is just beginning!”
