73rd IFD Awards and Congress in Bratislava

The International Federation of the Roofing Trade (IFD) is holding its 73rd IFD Awards and Congress in Bratislava, Slovakia, from Oct. 22 to Oct. 23, 2025.  

The IFD is the world’s leading advocacy group for the roofing trade. By providing a platform for the exchange of documentation, research studies and education, the IFD's purpose is to analyze common issues in the industry and improve the social and economic situation of those in the roofing trade. They organize international workshops and competitions, like the World Championship of Young Roofers, to promote young professionals in vocational training. 

The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) is a cooperative partner of the IFD. Since 1886, NRCA has been one of the industry’s most respected trade associations, representing all segments of United States roofing, including contractors, manufacturers, distributors, architects, engineers, building owners and government agencies. As a partner of the IFD, NRCA helps shape the global market environment by promoting a sustainable future for the roofing trade. 

This year’s Awards and Congress will surely be memorable. Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Danube and borders directly on Austria and Hungary. With a rich history dating back to Roman times, the city was once the coronation site of Hungarian kings. Today, Bratislava combines historical charm with modern dynamism.  

The program will include keynote speakers, educational trainings, a gala evening and updates from current IFD reports. The following keynote speeches will take place:  

• Facade of the future, Wolfgang Häußler 
• Green roofs, Werner Venter 
• The challenge of climate change for pitched roofs, Ernst Gregorites 
• Sustainable solutions for existing flat roofs, Marc Niewöhner
