The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) is proud to recognize Cool Roofs with a Bronze Award in the 2025 Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards Program for their outstanding work on a residential roofing project in Germantown, Tennessee.
Through expert craftsmanship, premium materials and innovative jobsite solutions, Cool Roofs exemplified the versatility and value of asphalt roofing in high-end residential applications.
Cool Roofs was tasked with replacing the aging roof of an upscale residence without compromising the surrounding custom landscaping, driveway and swimming pool. All key investment features for the homeowners.
Working within a tight two-week timeline, the team installed CertainTeed’s Grand Manor® Designer Shingles as part of the roofing system, achieving technical excellence and visual sophistication.
To safeguard these features, Cool Roofs implemented a jobsite protection system and used a lift machine, along with two dedicated on-site managers overseeing every phase of the project. Additionally, the team fabricated custom metalwork onsite for valleys and roof transitions, enhancing both durability and curb appeal. These efforts ensured zero damage to the home’s surroundings while exceeding expectations in precision and care.
"Cool Roofs transformed this residence into a stunning showcase of elegance and resilience,” stated Reed Hitchcock, ARMA executive vice president. "The project blends timeless style with modern functionality, enhancing the home’s charm while providing long-lasting protection."
Despite the complexities of the site and tight schedule, the team executed the roofing installation with precision, overcoming challenges with efficiency.

Initially considering synthetic slate or shake, the homeowners ultimately chose asphalt for its unique ability to deliver a refined appearance and long-term performance.
CertainTeed’s Grand Manor® Shingles offer the look of slate with significantly less weight, a lower cost and a stronger warranty package, including the 5-Star Sure Start PLUS Warranty, which covers materials and labor.
Asphalt roofing also required fewer structural reinforcements, reducing installation time and complexity. With Germantown’s variable weather conditions, the durability and layered design of asphalt shingles added peace of mind. Additionally, asphalt provided a cost-effective solution, making it the clear choice.
The final result not only ensures the home’s protection but also enhances its visual appeal, blending beauty with reliability that will withstand the test of time.
