Diving deeper with the DORA directory

Get more options with the quick, easy to use and free directory designed by and for industry consultants. 

While at the 2024 International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) convention and trade show in March, Heidi J. Ellsworth got to catch up with Michelle Jones at the Single Ply Roofing Industry’s (SPRI) booth. Michelle is an author for SPRI and came to the IIBEC show to talk about one of their programs, DORA. She explained, “DORA is the Directory of Roof Assemblies, and it is a directory of tested and approved listings and systems.”  

DORA is free to use and designed to be easy to use. Michelle explained the background of the directory, sharing, “Around 2014/2015 manufacturers within SPRI got together and said, ‘Hey, we need to have a location for us to put systems and decks that maybe aren't recognized by other services, listing services or directories within the industry.’” 

One of the best parts about DORA is that it is constantly improving. Michelle explained, “We're here at IIBEC getting feedback from consultants and specifiers that are currently using DORA. So, it's actively being improved based on feedback that we're getting.” As time goes on DORA is growing to give consultants more options. Michelle explained that some of the other options in the industry require perfect entry of data and criteria to find the information they are looking for. But DORA is not like that. She told Heidi, “DORA is all drop downs, and you can just pick whatever it is you need. And then if that's not what you're looking for, you can view alternatives within a matter of a couple of clicks, in a couple seconds.”
