En un episodio de La Voz de los Ruferos, Jessica Bravo se sienta con Duliar Valladares, gerente de territorio en SRS Distribution, para hablar sobre el papel que juegan los profesionales bilingües en las ventas de techado. Con años de experiencia en ventas internas y gestión de territorio, Duliar comparte cómo hablar tanto español como inglés puede ayudar a cerrar la brecha entre las empresas de techado y su diversa base de clientes.
Duliar dijo, “Este mercado es enorme, todo el mundo necesita un techo, todo mundo. Si eres una persona, necesitas un techo.” Pero ese fue solo el comienzo. Con el tiempo, se dio cuenta del valor añadido que podía aportar a la industria gracias a su habilidad bilingüe. Para él, se convirtió en su superpoder. Explicó, “El hecho de poder ayudar a contratistas, es donde yo puse el lado emocional también involucrándome en ayudando a otras personas, ahí fue donde yo también empecé a ver cómo yo puedo hacer la diferencia también en la industria.”
Desde promover oportunidades de desarrollo, ayudarles a conseguir entrenamientos o simplemente ofrecer apoyo en tareas básicas, el poder comunicarse en ambos idiomas solidificó su deseo de permanecer en la industria. Se dio cuenta del impacto real que puede tener al hablar español e inglés.
Duliar subraya que en esta industria es esencial comunicarse de manera efectiva. Además, señala que la mayoría de los trabajadores de campo hablan español. “Por ejemplo, si tu crew solo habla español, ¿cómo tú te vas a comunicar con ellos? Entonces, si por ejemplo, contratas a un project manager que es bilingüe, ya se pueden comunicar entre el crew y el dueño de la compañía.”
El episodio destaca una verdad cada vez más evidente en la industria del techado: el bilingüismo no es solo una habilidad adicional, es una herramienta poderosa que puede transformar negocios, fortalecer equipos y abrir puertas a nuevas oportunidades. Poder comunicarse en español e inglés permite no solo conectar con más clientes, sino también crear un entorno laboral más seguro y eficiente.
