GAF’s 'Latinos in Roofing' summit brings hundreds of roofing professionals together

The Latinos in Roofing Summit & Expo in Atlanta provided training, resources and networking opportunities to help roofing professionals strengthen their business and the industry.

This month, GAF, North America’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, convened over 775 roofing professionals in Atlanta for the nationally recognized Latinos in Roofing Summit & Expo. The two-day event provided essential training, resources and networking opportunities to help roofing contractors and installers grow and level up their businesses.

A driving force in the U.S. housing and roofing industries, 21% of U.S. roofing contractors are Latino-owned. As housing demands in Atlanta and markets around the country continue to grow, GAF’s Latinos in Roofing Summit & Expo provided essential education on technical and business topics that consider challenges to growing roofing businesses and mitigating barriers to professional and financial success. Sessions and workshops were held in both English and Spanish.

GAF President and incoming CEO John Barkhouse spoke on the essential contributions of the Latino community to the roofing industry as part of his opening remarks. Participants also attended sessions and workshops that covered topics including:

• New products and solutions that can help grow business and provide homeowners with added peace of mind when it comes to the resilience of their roof.
• Certification and training programs that help contractors and roofing professionals enhance their skills and stay up to date on the latest strategies and technologies driving the industry.
• The skills and expertise needed to expand beyond residential roofing into the commercial roofing space.

The event closed with the third annual GAF Latinos in Roofing Awards, where awards were given out across residential and commercial roofing categories for Installation of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Excellence Award and Community Award. These awards recognize roofing companies that demonstrate an unwavering commitment to superior workmanship and installation standards as well as their contributions to their community.
