Hal Leland re-elected to the CRRC Board for a third term

A Western Colloid General Manager elected to a third term, recognized for years of excellence.

Western Colloid announced that General Manager Hal Leland was reelected to the board of directors for the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) at their annual Summer Meeting, June 5, 2024. Leland has been a member of the CRRC since 2005 and this will be his third term.

This annual meeting is a tradition where CRRC members came together to hear about the latest industry research and CRRC activities including guest speaker presentations, along with casting votes for the Board of Directors.

“We are so grateful that Hal is committed to this organization. We understand the CRRC’s importance to our industry,” states Western Colloid President Greg Hlavaty. “We appreciate all he does in his support of building tomorrow's standards.”

Hal’s position as general manager for the company’s northern California and Pacific Rim areas plays a key role in Western Colloid’s commitment to the industry. On behalf of Western Colloid, Leland lends his technical expertise as subcommittee chairman for D08.09 and as a voting member at ASTM International, as co-chair of the Codes and Standards Task Force for the Roof Coatings Manufacturer Association (RCMA), along with his position on the Board of Directors for the CRRC.

He is also a member of the AIA Honolulu / AIA Northern Nevada/ AIA East Bay chapters.

Leland studied chemistry and business at Montana State University, evolving into roofing in San Diego about 35 years ago and he has enjoyed more than 30 years with Western Colloid. In addition to general manager duties, he works with the chemistry, listings, codes and standards and the testing of the products at FM Global now (FM), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Miami-Dade, ICC-ES and other Independent Labs.
