In memoriam of James (Jim) Barr

Jim was the president of Barr Roofing Company and served as MRCA president from 2001-2002 and NRCA chairman of the board in 2017.

We are saddened to share that James “Jim” Alan Barr passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 72.

Jim served as president of Barr Roofing Company in Abilene, Texas, and was an active leader in our industry. He served as MRCA president from 2001–2002 and as NRCA chairman of the board in 2017. His service was recognized with MRCA’s James Q. McCawley Award in 2011 and NRCA’s J.A. Piper Award in 2024.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamil Family Funeral Home in Abilene. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest. Memorial contributions may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care or The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest.
