Matthew Adams, an Iraq war veteran, was having major issues with his roof. After patching it a few times and finding that his repairs weren’t cutting it, he and his wife Syndel Adams decided to start saving for a brand-new roof. Now, the couple can put that money towards other things as they were the recent recipients of a new roof thanks to the Beacon of Hope contest.
Each year, Beacon Building Products awards roof repairs/replacements to ten veterans. Matthew and his family were one of the lucky winners of last year's contest after being nominated by their friend Jacob Fortner. “I am super, super grateful,” Matthew told The Newnan Times-Herald.
Matthew served in the Army for nine years and did three tours in Iraq. On his third tour, he was injured and soon medically retired.
The roof was installed by RCF Construction, who Matthew’s friend Jacob works for as a contractor. Jacob nominated him soon after learning about the contest and initially didn’t expect them to win. Then on Veterans Day, he received the great news that Matthew was selected as a winner and would receive a new roof.
Beacon partnered with TAMKO to make this roof replacement possible, with TAMKO providing the materials for the job. TAMKO’s Customer Relations Manager, Sean DeBey , “It’s so rewarding to work for a company that values veterans and is willing to give back in this way.”
