Living Roof Protects Veterans’ Stories

The museum and memorial is truly an architectural work of art that honors and remembers all veterans.

The National Veterans Memorial Museum is the first and only memorial to veterans of all branches and eras. Guests have the opportunity to learn more about individual stories and experiences shared by veterans throughout history. The museum opened in October 2018 and portrays the stories through photos, letters and personal belongings of veterans throughout history. To continue to tell the story of our country’s veterans, there is an area of the museum designated for veterans to record a video and share their own piece of history.

On the outside, the National Veterans Memorial is an architectural work of art. When working on such a significant project, it was important to select a product that would protect what was held inside. A full SOPREMA system was selected to protect this building. From the SOPRALENE 180 PS 3.0 base ply adhered with COLPLY EF to the SOPRALENE Flam 180 FR GR cap sheet, the building is protected with a multiply, redundant system. In addition, a variety of SOPRANATURE products, such as SOPRANATURE Root Barrier and Filter Fabric, were used to complete the vegetated roof.
