Meet Roofus, SRS’s sponsored puppy for Canine Companions. 

Giving back has never looked cuter! SRS and Raise the Roof Foundation have partnered with Canine Companions. 

Canine Companions is a leading provider of service dogs, providing over 5,000 assistance dogs across the U.S. at no cost to their clients. These service dogs assist a variety of people from adults, children and veterans with disabilities to facility dogs for professionals working in healthcare, criminal justice and educational settings. 

Canine Companions’ assistance dogs can open doors, pick up dropped items and turn on the lights, helping those with disabilities gain greater independence. 

Now SRS’s sponsored puppy, Roofus, is beginning his journey to becoming a new service dog. Born on April 4,  Roofus will be raised by volunteer puppy raiser Jackie. As a volunteer puppy raiser, she will give Roofus a safe home, take him to obedience classes, serve him a healthy diet, provide socialization opportunities and give lots of love as he becomes a highly trained service dog. 

“We are honored to partner with Canine Companions,” Dan Tinker, president of the SRS Raise the Roof Foundation board of directors and president and CEO of SRS Distribution told The Companion. 

“We understand and appreciate how the unconditional support and daily assistance from a specially trained service dog can help our veterans,” says Dan. “We look forward to welcoming this new team into the SRS family and are excited to see as they grow as veteran and canine partners.” 

This is certainly one of the most adorable ways for SRS Raise the Roof to follow their commitment to giving back. Your support can help train puppies like Roofus and place more exceptional dogs with veterans, children and other adults with disabilities to increase their independence and quality of life.
