Despite Hurricane Michael “breezing” by Charlotte, METALCON attendees and exhibitors were treated like royalty in the “Queen’s City.”
METALCON 2018 offered attendees and exhibitors three jam-packed days of networking, learning, spectating, photo-snapping, donating and overall, celebrating an industry “built by hand.” Launching a new format can be risky, but METALCON show director, Claire Kilcoyne, “felt it was time to shake things up.” Claire explains, “With all of the exhibits and education sessions offered at an inclusive price and located in one place – on the show floor – the new METALCON ‘Total Experience’ helped attendees maximize their time and return on investment.”
Thursday, October 11 started with a most interesting and timely Keynote Address given by Dan DiMicco, former CEO of NUCOR Corporation and senior trade adviser to President Trump’s Campaign, as he defended the Trump administration’s aggressive foreign trade policy and tariffs. Be sure to READ MORE about this presentation on our website. Similar to Wednesday, the afternoon was jam-packed with day two of the Metal Roofing Games, education seminars in the Learning Centers, more raffles and cash prizes and culminated with a special check presentation to the Steve Smith Family Foundation.
METALCON selected the Steve Smith Family Foundation as this year’s “give back” organization. The Foundation focuses on the health and wellness of children who are victims of domestic violence. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, $3,000 was raised for the Foundation. Those who donated a minimum of $25.00 were entered into daily drawings. Five lucky winners went home with some awesome raffle prizes including two NFL Jerseys, two NFL footballs autographed by Steve Smith Sr, and a grand prize including two tickets to the Carolina Panther vs New Orleans Saints football game along with a two night stay at the Westin Charlotte in December.
METALCON wrapped up on Friday with attendees making the most of the half day networking and visiting with exhibitors. Whether this was your first METALCON, 5th, or perhaps your 28th, we thank you and hope to see you next year! Stay tuned for more show updates in future blog posts.
Mark your calendars for METALCON 2019 as we head to the “Steel City” – Pittsburgh, PA, October 16-19, 2019!
