Make a Difference for Future Young Roofers

Here’s how you can contribute to the Davis Memorial Foundation Scholarship. 

In 1996, the Western States Roofing Contractors Association (WSRCA) wanted to help fund the future of the roofing industry with a scholarship foundation. A year later the Davis Memorial Foundation Scholarship was born. The scholarship program was named to honor the legacy of WSRCA members, Larry and Mary Davis; their valuable service to the association lives on through the scholarship program which supports future students in the roofing industry.  

In a recent podcast, Davis Memorial trustee, Chuck Chapman, discussed the ways you can make a valuable difference by helping their scholarship program. There are three big fundraising events coming up at this year’s Western Roofing Expo at the Paris Las Vegas: 

• Sporting Clay Tournament - September 24 starting at 9 a.m. (the bus leaves at 7:30 a.m.) 

• Bob Porter Golf Tournament - September 24 starting at 7:30 a.m. (the bus leaves at 6:15 a.m.) 

• Welcome Event and Auction - September 24 starting at 5:30 p.m. 

If you can’t attend the auction in person, there will be an online silent auction you can participate in as well. “You can start bidding on the auction items before the event actually happens,” Chuck says. “There's also the ability to donate what we call a ‘name your scholarship.’ You can actually donate $5,000 and name your own scholarship.” 

Not only will these events be a great way for you to show support for future young roofers, but they also have a special fun theme! “This year, we're going to be doing a Western theme, in conjunction with some other folks that are having some welcoming receptions and they've decided to make it kind of a Western theme,” Chuck says. “If you've got a fedora, or if you've got a Western hat of some sort that you want to wear, we'd love to have you get dressed up.”
