Meet Lisa Spriggs – Answer Me This! Winner

Each week our readers participate in one of their giveaways, the Answer Me This! Drawing. We recently spoke with her about her experience in the roofing industry and her answer to our Answer Me This! question: What's the most popular color in gutters? 

A child of the roofing industry, Lisa grew up around her dad's company. “I have grown up with it my whole life.  I met my husband in high school and he started working with my dad, part time during high school, and then full time after that and continued working with him for 25 years,” says Lisa.  “I was a stay-at-home mom for over 20 years while my husband was working at that time at M & J Roofing. My dad then retired in 2006 and that's when my husband and I both bought the company and changed the name to M & J Construction.” 

“When we took over the company, I jumped right in (our children were grown and gone then). I self-taught myself to learn the computer, payroll, quarterlies and all other office duties. We attend the IBS & IRE shows and attend classes to stay on top of new products!” explained Lisa. 

M & J Construction focuses on residential projects and Lisa says that she loves meeting with the clients. “From the first time I answer the phone, to talking with them and meeting at their home-- you make some friendships, so that's pretty cool.” 

When answering our contest question, Lisa says the most popular color is white. “The majority that we do are white, although we just finished installing CertainTeed Landmark Moire Black shingles with Black gutters & downs - very striking!”  says Lisa.  

Lisa is a huge RCS reader, from getting our emails to clicking through articles. “I like the variety,” she says.  “You have little quizzes so you make it fun. And you make me want to stop and take a peek again each week.”
