Meet Shawnda Burgess, January's StealthBond® Yeti Winner

She’s the lucky RCS community member who was selected as the winner for January!

Each month, I get the chance to talk on the phone with our contest winners and I was excited to meet Shawnda Burgess of West Virginia-based Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal, the January winner of the StealthBond® Yeti Rambler giveaway. When I reached Shawnda on the phone, she was very excited as she had just received her prize that morning!

Shawnda has worked at Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal for seven years and her current role there is as a project administrator. She’s seen the company grow tremendously during her tenure there. In fact, they recently opened a 60,000-square-foot metal fabrication facility to meet the needs of their customers on the east coast, ranging from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania down to Lexington, Kentucky.

She got into the roofing industry by way of her family’s business which made brake assemblies, going to work there right after college. She loved the fabrication side of the business but eventually mass production and overseas competition caused the company to close its doors. Not long after that, Shawnda went to work for a local business as the manager of their sheet metal shop before eventually making her way to the Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal team in 2011.

What does she like best about her job? She enjoys the daily challenges and being able to achieve the customer’s vision on the exterior building envelope. She loves the feeling of knowing that she has made a difference somewhere, somehow, and seeing the finished project and knowing that you played a part in making that happen is very fulfilling.

Shawnda told me that she is aware of the StealthBond® system and thinks it sounds like a product that might be a fit for their business and is looking forward to learning more. She likes to learn about new products and technologies in the industry and she relies on RoofersCoffeeShop.com for that information. It gives her a place to get away for a few minutes and see what the rest of the industry is talking about. In addition to reading the articles, she really enjoys the old photos and seeing how the industry has changed over the years.

Outside of work, Shawnda’s focus is on her two children, ages five and seven, who keep her busy with school work and all of their other activities.
