Meet the 2026 CRRC Conference guest speakers

Meet the 2026 CRRC Conference guest speakers
May 27, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

By Emma Peterson.

Learn about the three experts who will be presenting at this year’s CRRC Conference.

The Cool Roof Rating Council will be hosting their annual conference from June 16-18, 2026, at the Thompson San Antonio Riverwalk hotel! This three-day event gives both CRRC members and nonmembers the chance to collaborate, learn and grow together.

Attendees can expect the chance to participate in CRRC events like the member meeting, committee day and board meeting, as well as some unique networking and learning opportunities in the form of a cocktail reception and guest speakers. This year’s event will have three guest speakers – Dr. Larry Kalkstein, Jake Medley and Tim Hebrink.

Dr. Larry Kalkstein

Dr. Larry is the president of Applied Climatologists, a lab focused on climatological issues such as extreme weather’s impact on human health and the development of weather warning systems. His presentation, Climatic Change We Don't Expect: The Incredible Shrinking Diurnal Temperature Range, focuses on “the shrinking diurnal temperature range of oppressive air masses and the implications of this phenomenon for heat warning systems and interventions like cool surfaces.”

Jake Medley

Jake is the executive director of the Louisville Mayor’s Office of Sustainability. In this role he is directly involved in Louisville’s Cool Roof Incentive Program, which has seen the installation of over 1.4 million square feet of cool roofing. His presentation, Float Like a Butterfly, Reflect like a Roof (Should), dives into the details and impacts of this program, as well as shares insight into what needs to happen in order to develop similar programs across Kentucky and the rest of the country.

Tim Hebrink

Tim is a corporate scientist for 3M Corporate Research Process Lab. His talk, titled, 3M Light and Energy Management Technologies for Cooling the Surfaces of Buildings, Vehicles, and Electronics Applications, focuses on the fundamental science behind light and energy management technologies (such as solar-reflective granules). Overall, this presentation will highlight how scientific innovations, like what Tim works on at 3M, translate into real-life applications and benefits.
