With one of the most diverse resumés a businesswoman can have, Michelle Miller is highly qualified to give professionals advice about growing a business. She graduated from college with a marketing degree, and shortly after, through networking, she began working at Alliance Community Hospital in Northeast Ohio. It was her first role, and it left a powerful impression on her. To this day, networking is a passion for her.
“I’m really big on giving back and helping to get others started with their careers since I feel so blessed to have had someone invest in me in that way.” Soon after her first job, she moved to Washington, D.C. to work in government relations, advocating for women-owned businesses. She continued her career in Ohio, developing her marketing skills whilst working toward her master’s degree.
To this day, she is still extremely active as a businesswoman. She’s a marketing expert at heart, but anything that interests her is deserving of her time. She occasionally writes for RoofersCoffeeShop®, and even created her own healthy dog treats under the name Big Wolf! With so much experience behind her, many want to know how she encountered her success. Fortunately, Michelle was able to take time out of her busy schedule to share her secrets with B2Btail.
Michelle is a someone who sees the value in breaking molds. When asked what she thinks of the phrase, “this is how we’ve always done it,” she responds, “that’s why we need to break it.” Innovation is essential to her. She indicates that the companies who were most successful during the pandemic were the ones who thought outside of the box to keep their businesses running socially distanced.
Standing out with your marketing strategy also plays a big role in your success. “Marketing is everything we do,” Michelle explains. If you don’t do any branding work, that nothingness is your brand, whether you’re aware of it or not. This is what makes marketing essential. Michelle advocates that businesses build up their social media presence, and work on creating compelling websites. Successful businesses keep up with the times, so it’s important to be flexible when it comes to embracing new methods of marketing.
Her main advice for young entrepreneurs is to “just get started.” “You can create the most grand plan in the world. And if it’s sitting there on paper, it doesn’t do an ounce of good. Make that post, change that piece of literature, update that one page on your website, just do one thing.”
