Putting veteran commitment back in focus

Putting veteran commitment back in focus

Operation Rooftop and partnerships showed TAMKO®’s 2025 veteran commitment through roofing support and community impact.

Operation Rooftop, presented by TAMKO® and the Chiefs, concluded its 2025 sweepstakes with the selection of Staff Sergeant Patrick Leet, a U.S. Marine currently serving on recruiting duty in Kansas City, Missouri. Patrick and his family received a new residential roof featuring TAMKO’s premium Titan XT® shingles, designed for long-term durability and protection.

“I’ve been a Marine for about 12 and a half years and my wife Erika has been with me the whole way,” Patrick said. “In that time, we’ve gone through six home moves and three deployments overseas. We just moved to Kansas City earlier this year and to receive a new roof through this program is truly a blessing. We’re incredibly thankful to the Chiefs and TAMKO for their generosity and support of military families.”

Patrick, his wife and their three children recently purchased their first home, knowing the roof would need replacement. “We never imagined we’d have an opportunity like this,” he said. “The Kansas City community has been so welcoming and we’re proud to now call it home.”

For roofing contractors, Operation Rooftop also served as a real-world example of Titan XT® shingle performance. The installed roof features shingles with a Class 3 impact rating* and a 160-mph wind warranty† when installed as part of a TAMKO Complete® roof system, representing the product’s role in residential protection applications.

The initiative reflects a broader partnership between TAMKO and the four-time world champion Chiefs focused on honoring military families. “We’re proud to partner with TAMKO on Operation Rooftop to recognize and give back to those who serve,” said Tyler Kirby, chief revenue officer for the Kansas City Chiefs. “Patrick’s story is a powerful reflection of dedication and family and we’re honored to celebrate him as this year’s recipient.”

Inside the company, veteran support extends well beyond a single program. Nearly 15% of TAMKO’s workforce has military experience, with an even higher percentage represented in leadership roles. The company also contributes time, funding and materials to veteran-focused organizations such as Field of Honor, Veterans Airlift Command and Patriot PAWS, while supporting nationally visible home renovation projects through its contractor network.

That connection is personal for company leadership. “The fact that we’re able to put veterans first means a lot to me,” said Chris Freeborg, Vice President and Chief Marketing, Communications and Product Development Officer at TAMKO and a U.S. military veteran. “I think about the people I served with, the culture, the camaraderie and I’m honored to help give back to that community. It’s a privilege.”

As Operation Rooftop 2025 comes to a close, the program stands as one example of how TAMKO aligns its manufacturing capabilities, contractor partnerships and community engagement to support those who serve.

* Titan XT® shingles are classified by UL for compliance with UL 2218 Class 3 impact resistance. UL 2218 testing utilizes a dropped steel ball which may not correlate with real world rooftop experience with the impact of storm-driven hail or other objects.

† 160 MPH wind warranty requires TAMKO® starter and TAMKO® hip and ridge. See TAMKO's full High Wind Application Instructions for all requirements and restrictions.

Neither the Department of War, nor the United States Marine Corps authorizes, sponsors or endorses Operation Rooftop.
