Quality Aluminum Products Has Strong Synergy With Gibraltar

Craig Shumate from Quality Aluminum Products shares with us the history of the company as well as the recent acquisition by Gibraltar. 

Quality Aluminum Products (QAP) has been going strong since their establishment in 1991. The aluminum product distributor was founded by George and Bob Clark who have been in the aluminum siding business since the 1950s. The company currently operates in Hastings, Michigan and was recently acquired by Gibraltar. 

Gibraltar acquired QAP in August 2022 as a part of their Building Accessories Division. QAP manufactures and distributes a variety of high-quality aluminum products, including deck flashing, soffit, fascia, siding and more. Although they operate out of Michigan, they service the Midwest, areas of the east coast and southern areas as well. 

Craig Shumate, vice president of sales at QAP, has said that their acquisition by Gibraltar has been going well, largely because they share the same core values. “We're very excited to be under the Gibraltar umbrella at this point in time because they have the same culture,” he said. “They're very focused on high quality products and great service to their customers.” 

A lot of people who work with QAP have been with the company for a long time. Craig says that all of their top leaders have been with the company for over 20 years, and this can largely be attributed to their company culture. 

“A lot of the people that we've got here, especially at our supervision level, have been here since we opened the facility,” he said. “The people are very dedicated. The culture is very good... it's a family business, so we have the family atmosphere all the time.” 

Craig says that their recent acquisition will benefit both them and Gibraltar in the long run. “The synergies have been extremely strong between the two [of us] and this very good pairing will make us a really strong player in the industry from the distribution side.”
