By Heidi J. Ellsworth, RoofersCoffeeShop® Partner.
I want to share some of my numerous road trips with the Roofing Coatings Manufacturers Association (RCMA). RoofersCoffeeShop and RCMA partnered in the spring of 2018. This group excels in bringing together roof coating manufacturers and vendors to work on solutions for the performance of roof coatings and roof restoration.
This summer, Tim and I were able to join the RCMA group again for their summer meeting with a special tour of WJE, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates. This amazing organization is a global firm of engineers, architects, and material scientists committed to helping clients solve, repair, and avoid problems in the built world. It was fascinating.
I was able to present industry updates during their regular meeting. I am constantly impressed by the caliber of people and the impact they are making on the roofing industry, striving for the highest quality standards in roofing systems. I am now proud to be a part of their communications committee and I am looking forward to working with fellow RCMA members to share their information, research and events. It is inspirational and makes me very happy that the Coffee Shop is a part of this great organization.

During the past International Roof Coatings Conference (IRCC) conference, RCS worked with RCMA to pull together a group of RCS Contractors to form a panel during the summer meetings in Chicago. The panel focused on the protocol they used in selecting a product manufacturer along with roofing situations or challenges they find where roof coatings are the perfect solution. They also talked about the advantages of roof coatings
A few topics included:
The panel was made up of Steve Little with KPost Roofing & Waterproofing, Dallas Texas; Jonathan Small and Albert Victoria, RoofCARE, Albuquerque, NM and Eric Suess, Raincoat Roofing, Chicago, IL. These contractors brought a wealth of knowledge and insights to the manufacturers and vendors attending the conference discussing the topics above and much more. We are planning on forming another contractor panel to present at their 2020 summer meeting, RCMA’s International Roof Coatings Conference (IRCC).
I would also be remiss not to mention the great time we had at the RCMA Gala & Annual Meeting which was held during the 2019 International Roofing Expo® (IRE). The highlight of the evening was seeing Hal Leland of Western Colloid be awarded The Industry Statesman Award, which is also known as the James “Tim” Nelligan Award. We were also thrilled to see George Daisey, Dow Construction Chemicals win the Martin A. Davis Industry Leadership Award. It will be fun to see who stands on the stage during the 2020 RCMA gala February 3, 2020 during the IRE in Dallas, Texas.
What a great organization. For more information on RCMA visit www.roofcoatings.org.
