Meet Mike Cowan, owner of Champion Roofing and the recent winner of the DaVinci Masterpiece Contractor 2023 Project of the Year Award.

Overview: 2023 Project of the Year

According to David D. Le Norman, owner of Le Norman Properties LLC, the real slate roofing on some of the office buildings had failed after just 15 years. That led them to make a roofing change. And the property owner always trusts Champion Roofing LLC.

Insights from a winning roofer

Based in Oklahoma City, Champion Roofing works on both commercial and residential roofing projects. Here Mike shares some insights about his career, his appreciation of authentic-looking composite roofing tiles and his devotion to the roofing industry.  

Q: How did you get started in the roofing business?

Like many roofers, I began my career as a summer job to help pay for college.

Q: What makes your company recommend DaVinci products over competitive composite products

Q: When selling DaVinci products to a new customer, what are the features and benefits that customers react best to?

Again, it’s the appearance. It’s so realistic. The look is very authentic to real shake and cedar.

Q: What made you think that this particular project would be a winning candidate for the DaVinci Masterpiece Contractor Project of the Year Award?

When driving by on the road, the Gaillardia Parkway Office Park truly stands out. The architecture of the buildings and the authentic look of the DaVinci tile is a great combination. It just felt like a winning project to us.

Q: What’s your dream roofing job?

I’m pretty old fashioned. Putting on a quality roof for any customer equates to a dream roofing job for me.

Q: Finally, if you absolutely had to change professions tomorrow, what do you think you’d do?

Actually, I’d find a way back to the roofing industry! There’s simply no way I can imagine leaving this industry … it’s what I enjoy most and I wouldn’t leave it.
