If you are an employer in the roofing industry, you know how important it is to take on a team of employees that are going to do the work you need effectively. Even more important than that is finding employees that you can trust. Jacob Aguirre, the director of operations for Beldon Roofing, shared his insight on what to look for in a trusted employee on a recent episode of Stories from the Roof with Heidi J. Ellsworth.
Jacob told Heidi, “One of the most important traits that I see, and when I look for, when we're looking to hire, or we're looking for that next person on our management team, it's trust. We deal with a lot of, ‘Hey, I need to trust that you're overseeing or you're doing things the right way.” He continued, “It's something that you find out with time. There has to be there has to be that trust level with the people that are working for you, or you're working alongside, or even a customer to contractor. I mean, taking that every day and the people that you work with, trust really digs deep.”
Roofing can be a very dangerous environment and roofers often find themselves in precarious situations where they need to have a person they can trust with them. Jacob explained, “We hear it a lot from our field employees that they have to trust each other. At the end of the day, there's other people watching each other's backs and getting the stuff done, and bringing us the information we need, so we have to trust them.”
