Roof Hugger previously shared an animated installation video, but with this “Roof Huggers in Action” video they’re focusing more on showing viewers the Hugger products. The video showcases, “...the process of our Roof Hugger systems from fabrication to the rooftop and everything in between,” which was spotlighted in their newsletter. Viewers get a behind-the-scenes look at what they do, how their systems are made, installed, and used in their metal-over-metal retrofit roofing.
When faced with an old and outdated metal roof, Roof Hugger has a solution that will save time and money. Their metal-over-metal retrofit systems install the new metal roof “...directly over the old roof providing a safe and labor-saving installation,” as mentioned in their “Roof Huggers in Action” video summary.
The video starts off with the fabrication of their custom Hugger sub-purlins. According to the video description, these are made, “...using sophisticated punching, shearing and press-braking equipment to allow [their] systems to match virtually any existing metal roof profile/configuration…” This can be done if it’s thru-fastened or standing seam and regardless of the existing rib spacing or “...what the required height is to accommodate varying thickness of insulation,” as described in the video explanation.
Also highlighted in the video are their more common profiles and their special hat-channel systems. For their common profiles, the video summary explains that they, “...roll-form several Hugger sub-purlins…” This allows them to keep an inventory of these common profiles in their four locations in Florida, Texas, Indiana, and Washington. The special hat-channel systems, “...assist with new metal roof systems that do not have required uplift testing over [their] systems or those projects that are required to meet extreme wind speeds,” the video description explains.
Towards the end of the video, roofs with high wind load requirements are shown. The load requirements are in the corners, eave, and rake locations of the existing roof. “This additional framing is based on the [American Society for Testing and Materials] ASTM testing of the new metal roof systems that is selected to be installed over our Hugger sub-purlins,” according to the video details.
This video only shows a snippet of what Roof Hugger does. But they want their customers to have a more in-depth look at everything that goes into their systems. Their clients get a glimpse of the fabrication, visualize their varying products, and view the installation of their specialized systems. Their metal-over-metal retrofit systems are a convenient and environmentally friendly option when in need of a new metal roof.
