The New Cutting Edge: Sustainability

Being green is not just the right thing to do for the environment, it is the best thing you can do for your company. 

Without question the industry is evolving and transforming into something far more sustainable. As sustainability is becoming increasingly synonymous with best practices, more customers and contractors are opting for greener products and more manufacturers are looking for solutions to lower carbon emissions. 

It is smart to build your business on green solutions, which is why in the RLW Why Sustainable Solutions Matter, Heidi J. Ellsworth sits with SOPREMA’s Business Development Manager for Sustainable Solutions Jeff Moore for a conversation on how to make sustainability a core value of your business. 

“In terms of sustainability in the future, it is all about reducing those carbon emissions. We're going to just continue to see more municipalities and cities pass ordinances, and people are going to want to keep up,” says Jeff. “Roofing is an important piece [of this change]...right now, that's where the big push is – in trying to reduce the carbon footprint on those products.”  

Jeff says that staying at the cutting edge of the industry means paying attention to sustainability and realizing it is here to stay. Going green is proving to be much more than a trend, but a shift within the industry to sustainably manufacture roofing products and meet customer-driven demand. There are so many opportunities for sustainability within the industry and roofs can make a big difference in our environment.  

“It is all about how can we best respond to do the right thing and position our companies to win in this new environment,” says Jeff. “So many are looking for ways that companies can tout that, that they're doing the right thing.”
