Roofing industry stakeholders from every region throughout the U.S. participated in Roofing Day in D.C. 2019 April 3-4 in Washington, D.C. Led by the National Roofing Contractors Association and partner organizations, the event is an unprecedented effort to elevate the image of the roofing industry and share its message with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
"For the second year in a row, more than 400 roofing professionals gathered in Washington, D.C.," says Reid Ribble, NRCA's CEO. "No one is better equipped than them to communicate how federal policy affects their businesses and families. Democracy requires participation. I appreciate all who attended this important event."
Since Roofing Day in D.C. launched in 2018, it is among the top industry fly-in advocacy events nationwide. This year, Roofing Day in D.C. participants made more than 250 visits to offices in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. Attendees also were addressed by Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-Pa.) and Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-Va.), who shared their perspectives regarding the latest political and policy developments on Capitol Hill.
Roofing Day in D.C. is the largest advocacy event dedicated solely to the roofing industry. Stakeholders in attendance visited with members of Congress to advocate for the roofing industry regarding issues on which there is broad consensus: immigration reform that meets the roofing industry's workforce needs; expanded workforce training incentives; and a robust buildings component for infrastructure legislation currently being debated by lawmakers.
