Tricky Roof Repair Over Emergency Room Made Easy

In 2019, Kaiser Permanente Hospital Group decided it was time to modernize the area above the emergency room. Due to the high value and importance of the emergency room, the project demanded a low odor installation and definitive waterproofing. Because the space was predominantly a pedestrian deck that also included planters and skylights, the installation needed to have decorative options for an aesthetically pleasing finished appearance. 

Sika conducted on-site adhesion testing to verify that the proposed Sikalastic-641 Lo-VOC RoofPro system would not only address installation needs, but it would not present any significant odor concerns as this is a semi-enclosed area. With respect to the finished appearance, several areas elected to utilize a custom-colored aggregate with a Sika clear poly aspartic sealer to achieve the desired look. Beyond function and appearance, a significant cost savings versus competing systems was realized as well.
