Westlake Royal Roofing Solutions™ is proud to announce that its Unified Steel Stone Coated Roofing has been recognized by Green Builder magazine as a 2023 Sustainable Product of the Year. Just one of two roofing products included in the annual accolades, Unified Steel is a lightweight roofing material known for its durability, performance and weather resistance.

In its official salute to the year’s best in green building material innovations, Green Builder magazine’s editorial team says its “2023 troupe goes above and beyond in manufacturing products that encourage sustainability through innovative technology or an improved version of a traditional technique.”

In addition to the two awards given to roofing products, 2023 awards were given to products considered sustainable within categories, including: alternative energy; appliances and fixtures; construction equipment and tools; controls and sensors; cooling and heating; decking; doors, walls and windows; energy management; indoor air quality; exteriors and siding; flooring and surfaces; landscaping; and solar. Green Builder notes that indoor air quality, environmental control and energy savings – the latter of which is provided by Unified Steel Stone Coated Roofing – are at the “forefront of enviro-friendly vendibles.”

Weighing in at just 1.5 pounds- per-square-foot, Unified Steel Stone Coated Roofing benefits from the structural strength of steel and is ideal for both roof retrofits and new construction applications. When paired with Above Sheathing Ventilation (ASV), Unified Steel provides enhanced energy efficiency performance and lowers long-term energy bills. The product is also recyclable.

In addition to its sustainability attributes, Unified Steel requires little maintenance and protects the home or structure from severe weather. All Unified Steel products are Class 4 rated for Hail Impact Resistance, offer a Class A Fire Rating (when using designated accompanying underlay materials), and are Hurricane Performance Rated with Miami-Dade County HVHZ Approval, which is the most stringent hurricane resistance standard in the country.
