On the final day of the 2025 International Roofing Expo (IRE), H.B. Fuller took the spotlight with a showcase that represents the industry’s shift toward more sustainable and user-friendly solutions. The company’s latest innovation, Millennium PG-1 EF ECO2 two-part urethane adhesive, drew strong interest from attendees looking for high-performance products with a reduced environmental footprint.
“Our EF Eco2 is manufactured with no HFOs or HFCs, using inert gases as a propellant” said Norbert Lash, strategic account manager for H.B. Fuller. “All the same characteristics of the other formulations but none of the bad stuff in the propellant.”
Designed to adhere insulation and membranes to structural decks, the adhesive is notable not just for what it does, but how it does it. Unlike traditional products, this sprayable adhesive eliminates harmful global warming potential (GWP) gases from its application process. Instead, Norbert explained that it uses the same carbonation concept as a soda can to dispense inert gases. "The only thing coming out are inert gases, so it’s safer for the environment," he shared about the propellant technology.
Another key selling point is that EF stands for "equipment free," meaning users don’t need to invest in costly pumps and hoses that can clog or break down. Norbert said, “It’s the same adhesive that we sell in pump-grade and cartridge formulations, just dispensed through a different mechanism.”
Feedback from IRE attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with visitors showing strong interest not only in the environmental benefits but also in the practicality and efficiency of the system. Norbert noted that many people are focused on finding products and companies committed to sustainability, a message that came through in conversations throughout the week.
Beyond the Millennium PG-1 EF ECO2, H.B. Fuller also offers bonding adhesives for single-ply membranes like TPO, EPDM and PVC — all available in canister form. In the future, the ECO2 Driven™ technology will be incorporated as the propellant wherever possible in new and existing products. This expansion marks a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to making roofing applications simpler and greener.
