Coming to a city near you, don’t miss Air Vent’s free technical seminar, Attic Ventilation: Ask the Expert™, offered by Paul Scelsi through April 2024. On a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth met with Paul to understand the importance of attic ventilation and to hear about the evolution of this seminar since it started. Get the inside scoop and register before it’s too late.
Each year, the three key principles stay the same. Paul will help you understand why ventilation is important, how best to vent an attic and how to overcome homeowner pushback. Then, he puts these principles into action through field examples and case studies.
One example he shares with Heidi is of a homeowner buying a house in the Pacific Northwest. He explained, “No one caught during the inspection of the house, that the vents were covered over with roofing material. The vents were in place, but they were covered over. In effect, there was no ventilation. A year later, they’re noticing a little bit of mold on the underside of the deck, and a contractor got involved to fix it.”
In this case study, they look at it from a few different angles. Not only from the perspective of the contractor getting involved in fixing the mistake, but he also explains, “First, how it got sold like that, I don’t know. But secondly, for the homeowners, we recommend periodically popping your head in the attic, which this homeowner did to see if something is off. Insulation, mold, mildew.”
Whether you want to expand your general knowledge of residential roofing or have a specific question on an upcoming project, this seminar offers answers and the opportunity to network with other professionals in your area. You’ll receive a complimentary breakfast and lunch for attending this already free seminar, and everyone earns a certificate of attendance which is recognized by a handful of professional organizations for continuing education as well. Make sure to register to attend a seminar near you!
