where is it?
i don't think so. i was just wondering why everyone is convinced it's a 50yr roof. people down here try to use it to cap off peir poles but they rust out in a couple years. so they put copper on the poles but still put galvalume on the roof. not really here in the bahamas but in south florida anyway. i just get so angry hearing americans repeat the installed notion that "metal roofs last forever" they're pretty much always referring to galvalume not metals that actually last. i know first hand cause i was deeply involved in the metal industry several years ago and i know that a multi billion dollar corporation heads up all of the current manufacturers and they have been dropping a multi million dollar subliminal ad campaign aimed at installing this false notion and everyone in the business has been jumping on the bandwagon and reaping the benefits. in south florida though stone coated galvalume lasts about 5-10yrs, painted galvalume 10-15 yet they still brainwash their customers into believing its a 50yr roof. i have re roofed too many metal roofs to believe this bs. same as the lifetime shingle bs. when i got out of shingling 10yrs ago the majority of my work load was replacing 10yr old roofs. the guys who i know that shingle today, that's all they do. i believe it's sooooooo important to be real about what we truly know as professionals and spread truth not repeat lies and false claims. at least here in the bahamas everyone knows galvalume is useless and aluminum is 20yr at best and copper around 80yrs.
