A testbook example of beuracracy gone wild....What a complete & utter waste of time, paper, etc.....The bill requires ONLY roofing contractors to include partucular contractual language in their contracts.....never mind the home improvement, restoration contractors, (who are the biggest bunch of scammers out there), home builders, general contractors, painters, plumbers, etc., etc.
Un-flipp'n believable!
State contractor licensing is what we need....Not more legislative mumbo-jumbo

Wow Roofguy....Well said!
The people need government/legislation to protect them from bad people. Or, they'll be in court every other day suing. Or, the bad peolple overwhelm. The courts need laws to discern who is right and who is wrong. Laws are there to be followed or you pay the price. If most people follow the rules they will not end up in court. Far to many people refuse to follow the rules creating a need for rules to control the rules.
so, some of us don't like legislation. Let me ask you this, How would like a law that says something to the effect that "Insurance companies cannot dictate to the contractor what they can or can't do, as long as it's legal, and it meets their policy, with a homeowner concerning the damage to their home that may incur during a storm?"
Twill ;)
Roof_dawg; Some things just stick in your mind...One particualar tid-bit, was what a fellow told me back in 92', when I was in the midst of relocting to Colo. He had made the comment that Denver was a "dirty city"....It wasn't till a year so after operating in Co. did I realize the real meaning of his statement....(had nothing to do with air quality)....Colo. is a harsh business environment...Not for the timid, nor the follow-the-letter/legal start-up companies....It's "clicky", and a ripe environment for unscrupulous types...Those in the ivory towers, as well as the crooks, (sometimes, one in the same), like it that way....So it remains....
I'm reading Ron Paul's book: Liberty Defined. If he would distribute this book for free, he might have a chance at getting elected.
TomB: Have you contacted state reps or local building associations to share your thoughts? CO must be a peaceful place, peaceful enough to counter your contempt for the working environment.
What's the saying? ..."The pot calling the kettle black"?
It's not black or white....much bigger picture....Much!
CIAK/Roofguy; You haven't a clue....this has nothing to do with licensing....The antic doesn't affect me at all, nor anyone els, for that matter.... It's simply an example of particualr agendas and who has the loudest mouth....
Tom You cry for state licensing? Then you post this? An Oxymoron Licensing will bring legislative mambo-jumbo. This is the tip of the iceberg of licensing. Laws, Rules and Regulations on top of Laws, Rules and Regulation. Be careful what you wish for, You just might get it all and some you don't want. Amen to that!

The more numerous the laws, the more corrupt the government.

This should be called the Colorado Hail Bill.....It's ridiculous & isn't going to change a thing. The stormers will always come in and capture the lions' share of the opportunities.
