Mystery EPDM Damage

I'm inclined to believe it's a lightening strike, but could it be electrostatic somehow induced by the solar panels? Just throwing the second guess out there. The picture quality sucks because there's only 5" between the roof and panels. Overall damaged area is contained to about a 3' x 4' spot in the center of the lower panels.

No scratches or bite marks. Nice neat edges.

How do you like the blisters?

We did an EPDM install over a warehouse that housed Jam/Jelly/Preserves. Not a month after the install (large building with 6figure roof price tag), owner has leaks everywhere. I go up and check it out. There was a second level that had those crank out windows over the epdm. Lots of glass was busted. We had priced covering and they were having others price as well. Checked with our guys to see if anything was dragged across the roof. Owner said others had been up there but just walking. Finally found a couple of low spots that were holding water. There it was: critter foot prints. Could see the claw details in the prints. Asked the facilities guy if they had rodent problems. He said yes that they were finding jars of product opened and cleaned out and found that they had a raccoon infestation. Nearly destroyed the roof. They finally had some trappers come in and try to remove them all.
