South Hills Community Church has been helping its local community for over 23 years. Like many non-profits who rely on generous donations from others, the church struggled financially during the pandemic.
Their facility, a 20-year-old building located in Corona, California, had some much-needed repairs but due to the financial issues, combined with the universal struggle with the pandemic, the church decided to pour all their time, attention and funds into helping their community in need.
They did this through blood drives, giving away food and supplies, serving the homeless, mental health counseling, donating technology to local educators, assisting the elderly by running errands for them and much more.
With many places beginning to open back up, South Hills Community Church was very excited to welcome the community back into their facility but was concerned about the roof repairs that were needed. This damage would cause leaks whenever there was a rainstorm, thus leading to even more interior damage to the aging building.
After this realization the church wrote a letter asking for help, to which Southern California Roofing Contractors Association jumped in to help the church through their annual Project Reroof, which was first established in 1989. This project is a collaborative effort of contractors and manufacturers and has helped to support those in need for multiple decades.
The sponsors that contributed to this project consisted of APOC, Chapman Coast Roof, Hoyt Roof, Inland Pacific Roofing, Jordan Roof, Lang Roofing, Premier Roofing Service, South Coast Shingle and Tropical Roofing Products.
After getting approved for the 2021 Project Reroof the teams got right to work on fixing the roof for the South Hills Community Church with the installation being completed in May 2022, giving the church more opportunities to help the community as the warm summer months approach.
