Staying ahead of the roofing industry curve means you must be innovative. Whether it’s using new products or creating them, if you don’t, your business might not progress as much as you’d like. In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips, we chatted with Marco Sieber and Elliott Wood from Polyglass about how their company stays ahead of the curve by embracing innovation.
Polyglass believes that innovation is key to growth and success. Marco told us that creating new products or improving on their existing ones is how they stay relevant in the industry. For example, with their reflective membranes, they’ve developed CURE Technology® to improve the products’ performance.
“Polyglass excelled in part because innovation is at the core of Polyglass' success,” he said. “And Polyglass has developed technologies like cure technology used in our reflective membranes... and more recently, Burn-Shield® Technology, which is a fire-resistant construction in the products. These have been some of the main drivers for growth at Polyglass over the years.”
One of Polyglass’ latest innovations is their Modifleece™, the industry’s first SBS modified fleece backed base sheet. The product is a modified bitumen base sheet with fleece on the bottom that is foam adhered with their LRF CR low rise foam adhesive. Elliott told us the creation of the product was a collaborative marathon rather than a race to get the product finished.
“We did take a long time doing field trials with this product,” he said. “We didn't fast track the steps. So, we made small tweaks to the initial product based on the feedback we got and then we launched the product.”
