Education is Key to Quality Repairs and Installations

RCS Influencer Mike Pickel says that his team is constantly educating themselves at every opportunity.

At Texas Traditions Roofing, we put education right up near the top in importance just as we do safety. Things don’t just stay that same in roofing. There are always new innovations, new processes, new code requirements, new and better performing products or installation techniques, not to mention new safety equipment and procedures. Staying on top of the latest industry developments is critical for us to be able to provide the best roofing services and solutions for our clients.

We stay educated in several ways:

1 – Industry conferences. We always send a team to the NRCA’s national convention, the International Roofing Expo, as well as to our local Roofing Contractors Association of Texas’ (RCAT) educational events. We attend the seminars, network with our peers and always visit the expo halls to see what’s new and innovative for our industry.

2 – Manufacturers. All of our manufacturers offer educational opportunities. We recently returned from the GAF Wealth Builders conference where we were able to network and learn. For those on our team who can’t travel to the educational conferences, we take advantage of lunch and learns where our local rep visits the office once a month to conduct trainings.

3 – We learn from our peers. We attend the Best of Success conference each year to hear from other contractors in our industry about what has worked for them and what hasn’t. We attend local networking events and meetings through RCAT.

4 – We learn from other trades. Working together with other trades – especially on new construction projects – has helped us learn more about those trades. Our most recent new construction project featured weekly meetings with everyone involved in the project so we would be on the same page but could also learn about what challenges those other trades are experiencing.
