Expert tips for metal roofing success

In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Karen Edwards sat down with ASC Building Products' team members, Richard King and Erik Hillhouse, on the intricacies of procuring and installing metal roofing. With a focus on practical advice and avoiding common pitfalls, the conversation becomes a go-to guide for contractors stepping into the metal roofing market. 

Erik expressed the importance of precision in ordering custom metal materials, highlighting that "the biggest difference is detail, detail, detail. Some of the things that you can take for granted with other materials where you can just order another panel or another palette or something like that, you cannot do that with metal. Things like pitch are critical. Things like knowing what the roof dimension is, not just the dimension of the building." This attention to detail helps avoid costly mistakes and delays, particularly when high-demand colors impact supply. 

Richard spoke on warranties, stressing the importance of matching paint systems to the specific environment. “You have to be careful…anyone living on the coast or near saltwater, that's a completely different specialty paint system,” he explained, adding that attention to environmental factors ensures both longevity and color consistency. For contractors, this means selecting materials not just for appearance but for durability in diverse conditions.
