One ordering system to rule them all

How a collaboration between Beacon and Leap is making life easier for contractors in the field.

Material ordering in the digital age can be a frustrating task. Roofing professionals that try to utilize newer technological systems for ordering materials often encounter unreliable and inefficient programs. But Beacon Building Products and Leap have a solution for that. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Katy Rebernak and Alexandra Bohanon to talk about how Beacon’s Triple Check Guarantee works with Leap’s ordering CRM to make digital ordering a powerful option for contractors.  

One of the best parts of this collaboration is the user-interface. Where many programs are complicated or require multiple systems to ensure the accuracy of an order, Beacon and Leap’s collaboration all live in one place. All of the ordering happens through your Beacon ProPlus account.  Alexandra, who is one of Leap’s product marketing managers, explained, “To order within Leap CRM, you need to link your Beacon ProPlus account. After you have your admin turn on the integration into your account, you'll start with your materials worksheet.” This is where you start inputting the materials you want to order.

The subsequent steps, like getting customer signatures of approval, can all happen through the account using the information in the original worksheet — with no need to re-enter numbers or data in a new system! And that stays true when transferring the Beacon worksheet into an order through Leap. Katy shared a little bit about that part of the process, saying, “Our Beacon internal team still looks over all the orders, even though the order was technically placed through Leap. This helps the contractor know they don’t have mistakes, but also save a lot of time because things like double entry or getting help via phone (or even in person at a local branch) can instead be done in the Leap platform.”

Beyond helping contractors be more efficient, streamlining this process into one system also makes it easier to see what products are available in the first place. Alexandra explained, “Through the integration Leap can pull things like Beacon’s live materials library. So, whenever someone's typing in products, they get live updates on the stock of that product at the branch they’re ordering from. You’ll know if that product is or isn't in stock and you're also going to know how much that product is costing you literally right now, not 24 hours or a week ago.” Overall, this system makes it far easier for contractors to manage their material orders in a timely manner. Katy summarized, “This integration is all about making it very easy to track and monitor things digitally. So, if there is that conversation that would occur via email or on the phone over days, it can be done, just online and faster.”
