When it comes to roof repair and service work, having the right tool in hand can mean the difference between a quick, quality patch and a costly callback. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Karen Edwards sat down with Dave Nordentoft of Leister to talk about how listening to feedback from the field is shaping the future of their roofing tools, starting with the launch of their new cordless heat gun.
Dave, who manages the roofing product category for Leister U.S., has spent more than a decade focused on product support, distribution and industry relations. He shared, “My primary core responsibilities are involved with managing our distribution of our products here into the U.S. market for product support, customer support, industry relations and so forth.”
This fall, that work culminates in the official release of the NextHeat 300ALP, a battery-powered heat gun designed to bring flexibility and precision to the rooftop. “Leister is launching an all-new heat gun for the industry,” Dave said. “It is a cordless, battery-powered hand tool. We’re very, very excited to introduce this into the marketplace.”
Unlike traditional corded models, the NextHeat 300ALP uses digital regulation and closed-loop technology to maintain set temperatures throughout the battery charge. That means contractors can trust their welds even as the day wears on. As Dave explained, “It has technology built into it that's always monitoring the key welding parameters, like the temperature and so it optimizes battery operations to be able to allow for the tool to reach and maintain those set desired temperatures.”
The move to cordless tools isn’t just about convenience. It reflects a shift in how contractors work, often accessing difficult areas or making quick service repairs. Dave shared, “There's been a pretty steady drumbeat, for this kind of a tool, to fit in this niche, for probably over five years now.”
The official product launch is set for October 7, and Dave confirmed the tool will be available through Leister’s nationwide distribution network and showcased during trade show season.
