Special people building special projects

For Viotell Metal Concepts, the magic lies not in the machinery or the metal; it lies in its people.

Inside Viotell Metal Concepts, innovation begins not with machines but with people. The company’s leaders, founder and CEO Gonzalo Tellez and COO Anthony Ortega, have built a culture where passion, mentorship and collaboration drive every piece of metal that leaves the shop.

“The metal shop is just shears, folders, CNC machines — the same as any other shop,” Gonzalo said in this episode of Roofing Road Trips®. “The different thing that we have is the people. The passion of these people working on these different metals, bringing their vision into something solid and bringing solutions to the contractors. Those are the people. They’re very special.”

At Viotell, innovation is rooted in experimentation and trust. “It’s a true team effort and everybody’s rowing in the same direction,” Anthony said. “In that environment, failure is okay. Let’s try something. If it works? Wonderful. If it doesn’t? Rip it off, try it again. Everybody feels comfortable and confident to have their own flair on the metal that we’re making.”

That attitude traces back to how Gonzalo learned and taught the trade. “Before I was a leader, I was a teacher,” he said. “I worked next to my guys from sunrise to sunset, and that’s how they learned the trade. That teaching gets passed on to the next and the next — that’s our culture.”

Anthony echoes that hands-on approach. “A foundational management 101, leadership 101 is to be in the trenches with your people and support them through positive, proactive training,” he said. “Lead from the front and nurture them.”

The result is a workplace where pride and purpose coexist. “I think I’m very lucky and very fortunate to have that kind of team,” Gonzalo said. “They’re willing to push the limit, bring solutions and try something new.”

Viotell’s success proves that culture isn’t built by equipment or processes but by people who believe in their craft. In an industry defined by precision, it’s their shared commitment that keeps the company moving forward.
