Spotlighting resilience, PVC performance and consultant alignment

Spotlighting resilience, PVC performance and consultant alignment
January 3, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

Live from the IIBEC show floor in Orlando, industry leaders dug into what makes roofs last longer and why collaboration matters.

IB Roof Systems™ utilized their time at the 2025 International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) show in Orlando reinforcing the fact that durability isn’t just a talking point; it’s a design decision. During a live Roofing Road Trips® broadcast from the Coffee Shop Soundstage sponsored by IB Roof Systems, CEO Jason Stanley joined host Heidi J. Ellsworth to discuss what is driving renewed attention to PVC, how consultants influence specifications and why resilient assemblies are becoming the baseline for long-term building performance.

“This has been an amazing event so far, and we're delighted to be here,” Jason said. He framed IIBEC as a different kind of show, smaller than IRE, but built for deeper technical exchange. He explained that the IIBEC Show attracts a fundamentally different audience, one that values proven performance and technical rigor over novelty. “What I love about roof consultants is they love facts, data and they love to read,” he said, noting that their priorities often differ from the product-driven focus many contractors bring to larger expos.

That emphasis on long-term performance is also shaping IB’s growth strategy. Jason pointed to the company’s partnership with Kingspan as a catalyst for expansion while maintaining continuity. “They want to buy good companies and then give them CapEx dollars to really grow and mature in the industry,” he said. In Jason’s view, the benefit is not just investment, it is the ability to attract people and build capabilities that support more complex roofing demands.

From there, the conversation returned to why PVC is gaining momentum. Jason described a market that is reevaluating what value really means when roofs are replaced too soon. He shared, “As we move towards an attitude as a country or culture of more resilience, building longer-term, more durable roofs are really coming in vogue.”

System details, he argued, are where resilience becomes real, especially as rooftop solar expands. “If you're considering solar, the inclusion of a coverboard is a must,” Jason said, tying fire performance and assembly design to how buildings are evolving.

For Jason, the path forward depends on coordination between all parties shaping a roof. “If any one of those three items on a three-legged stool, so to speak, fail, it all falls over,” he said, pointing to products, design and installation as inseparable.
