Bragging Rights are on the Line at this Year’s Salmon Derby

RCAW’s annual Salmon Derby is set to take place on July 29th.

Join the Roofing Contractors Association of Washington (RCAW) for their yearly Salmon Derby taking place on July 29th at Point Defiance Marina. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased here. The Salmon Derby is located at Point Defiance Marina 5912 N. Waterfront Dr. Tacoma, Washington and starts at sunrise, so be sure to bring plenty of coffee!

Along with bragging rights, you will be competing for a hearty $1,000 in cash for the first-place recipient, $500 for the runner up and $300 for third place. There is also a generous $500 raffle that everyone who caught a fish (outside of the 1st, 2nd or 3rd place winners) has a chance to receive. To top it all off, the winner has the opportunity to drink a beer straight from the Derby Cup!

The weigh station will be in operation from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the Point Defiance Marina Boathouse. All fishermen must be in the line to the boathouse by 2:00 p.m. in order to qualify for any of the prizes. Winners will be announced during the prize ceremony starting at 2:00 p.m. at Point Defiance Marina Boathouse. Contestants must have both a derby ticket and a valid Washington State Saltwater fishing license to participate and enter a fish into the derby. Attendance is mandatory at the prize ceremony to receive any of the prizes listed above.

Not a fisher? Not to worry. There’s still plenty to do at this year’s Salmon Derby! The event will also feature great food, including gourmet boxed lunches for you and your crew, and the dockside prize ceremony, plenty of raffle prizes and a best creative fishing photo contest in which the winner will receive a $100 cash prize.
