Don’t Give Opportunities to Keep Roofing the Cold Shoulder! How to Extend Your Roofing Season

Extending your roofing season even as it gets colder is a great way to keep business growing when most of your competitors are slowing down. Read on to learn more about the opportunities cold weather products represent.

What it all comes down to when you are extending your season and working in the cold, is finding products that can work in the cold just as well as they would in warmer temperatures. “We have a patented blend of polymers used in the product that allow it to be pliable enough even in temperatures as low as 20 degrees,” says Zach. “With many products, if you install down below freezing, below 50 degrees, you can crack the matte or supporting structure... then once it warms up, because that damage has already happened, the product is no good.” 

When it comes to extending your roofing season, having a tried-and-true cold weather product is lifechanging. Looking for products that install well in the cold, but also can hold up well to rooftop traffic that comes from sliding ice and snow is key to delivering a high-performing roof.  

“What we've found over time is that DaVinci's a perfect product for the mountains because it does stay flexible in cold temperatures,” says Lars. “And that means if you have rooftop traffic, you have to have a product that will take that rooftop traffic even when the product itself is very cold. So DaVinci held up really well.” 

In an industry where seasonal work can mean laying employees off, cold weather products that work to extend your season represent a huge opportunity to keep your workers throughout the winter. These products aren’t just cold weather solutions, they are also labor shortage solutions.  

“We do a huge amount of DaVinci in the wintertime, I guess through the late fall and early spring and we really don't do any other projects other than just service work. So it's been crucial for us in retaining employees because it is a seasonal area where we're at,” says Josh. “It is definitely a benefit to have the ability to work late and start early. And so we're very grateful for DaVinci when it comes to that.”
