My name's Sam Smith. I'm the general manager of Evergreen Roofing. I got into roofing 10 years ago.
Being able to do things quickly, we got jobs and we got to get in and out as soon as possible. Shortening any time, any task that we can make quicker has always been the number one thing for us to make money. It's the easiest way and the quickest way to make money.
Saving my time where I can, if I can leave the office at 5:00 instead of 9:00. I would spend hours upon hours upon hours doing takeoffs on paper. It's unbelievable to be able to do more estimates and to be able to focus on multiple projects instead of one single project. I can almost double up or triple up the amount of estimates that I can do in a week, which is awesome. The more work we get obviously, the more money we make.
The takeoff software has been spectacular for me. I can get things done in a quarter of the time that I would with normal prints. But I do also use it to plot out certain areas, show clients, "Is this the area that you want? Is this the area that you want?" I can color code things to kind of show them different phases and different phasing with square footage next to it. That's been very nice to be able to color code it and they do appreciate seeing things like that to make it kind of make sense for them.
They certainly don't make it difficult to use. They have webinars and live webinars where I could ask any questions I wanted. They constantly update and add new things, definitely make it better every time they update it. I use it every single day. I also keep track of my bids that way and my bid dates. I use it to show my guys details. I can measure details right in front of them so they know what it is. I don't have to sift through PDF programs. I can just use it all on STACK. I don't have to worry about getting prints like waiting for people to print it out. It's been great and less paper.
