By Evelyn Witterholt, RCS Reporter.
In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips, RCS President Heidi J. Ellsworth speaks with Jeff Littleton, the operations manager at All Points about the history of the company and their impressive tile identification service.
All Points Tile was founded by Deb and Penn Marshall in 2001 and initially started as a new tile company. But during the economic recession in 2008, they started selling their used tile inventory, ultimately finding more success this way.
“Nobody was doing new roofs and that's when we started selling used tile,” he said. “We decided that it's probably better to be a big fish in a big pond than a little fish trying to sell new tile.”
At All Points, they refer to their yard of used tiles as the “bone yard.” Jeff says they get their used tiles either from new roof jobs, reroofing jobs or from other bone yards that don’t need them anymore. And for any customer who wants their tiles for a roofing job, All Points will ship anywhere in the country.
One of the other services All Points Tile & Slate offers is a tile identification service for customers. On their website, you can go to their tile identification option under services and send them pictures of your roof. Jeff says that within half an hour, depending on how busy they are, they’ll contact you and let you know what they have in stock that matches what’s on the roof.
Jeff also says if you need a tile that they don’t have, they will still make an effort to help you find what you want. “We do go look for it if we can,” he said. “There's probably a dozen people in the whole United States that really concentrate on what we do. And so we talk amongst ourselves and if I can find it, then I'll move it here.”
