In the ever-evolving world of commercial roofing, one thing is becoming clear: PVC isn’t just trending; it’s dominating the conversation. And few companies have been in the PVC game longer or know it better, than IB Roof Systems™. On this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Jamie Treglio, a seasoned industry pro and marketing leader at IB Roof Systems, to talk about why PVC is gaining momentum and how IB is leveraging its decades of experience to meet the moment.
Jamie joined IB at the start of the year and brought with her a wide-ranging background in multiple roofing systems. But she says focusing on PVC has opened up new opportunities to tell a compelling story to both contractors and building owners. “PVC really gives you the single-ply ease of installation,” Jamie said. “It's going to add is this extra resilience to chemicals.”
Founded in the late 1970s, IB Roof Systems began as a coatings company before becoming one of the first U.S. companies to embrace and eventually manufacture PVC roofing. That early-mover advantage helped them establish deep relationships with contractors and consultants across the country. Now, under the Kingspan Group umbrella following a 2023 acquisition, IB is scaling its reach without losing its identity.
One of the main reasons PVC is seeing a rise in market share? Durability. Jamie points out that many building owners today are looking for systems that go the distance. But IB isn’t just selling a membrane. They’re selling smart solutions. From custom color options and prefabricated accessories to in-house technical support and detail reviews, the company positions itself as a true partner on and off the roof. According to Jamie, the goal is to reduce installation headaches and boost long-term performance for customers.
And while many membranes producers exclude ponding water from warranty coverage, IB does not. “Ponding water happens on a roof,” Jamie stated. “We know our product is going to hold up with it.” That sort of real-world thinking resonates with contractors, especially those dealing with labor shortages or looking to build service and maintenance divisions. When you pair a long-lasting product with repeat inspection and upkeep cycles, the result is a more stable and profitable business model.
