Staying on top of Safety While on top the Roof

Regular maintenance of roof safety systems is vital just as it is for any other part of a building. 

Roofing professionals have a responsibility to ensure safety while working at heights, a topic discussed in a recent episode of the Roofing Road Trips where host Heidi J. Ellsworth had the opportunity to speak with Phillip Harris, product manager and business development manager at Tremco. They spoke about the importance of safety measures and how Tremco's comprehensive solutions aid in this endeavor. 

Tremco provides everything from diverse roofing membranes to facade solutions, but what sets them apart is their approach to safety. "We are not looking to just place this system on your roof and leave. We want to make sure that the system, throughout its entire life cycle, will do what it was intended to do, which is to keep individuals safe when they're walking and working from elevated heights and services," Phillip explained. 

Phillip also delved into the importance of regular maintenance for roof safety systems, stressing that these systems need ongoing attention just like any other part of a building. Tremco offers maintenance packages to ensure equipment remains compliant and extends its lifespan, providing building owners with peace of mind. 

Another service Tremco offers is that they help customers ensure their roofs are compliant with OSHA standards. This includes providing hatch guards for roof access points, skylight guards, addressing unprotected edges, and suggesting measures to avoid slips and falls. 

But if the appearance of your building is also a concern Phillip suggests Tremco's "beautification line," which combines aesthetics with safety. He explained, "For individuals that want safety, but they also don't want, for lack of better words, the look of safety. They want to keep the aesthetic of the building to look how it was designed."
